Coronavirus and your Caledonian loan

We understand the coronavirus pandemic could have affected your income and as such in line with the FCA guidance, we are offering payment holidays on loans if your income is impacted by the pandemic. We would ask all of our customers to think carefully before making use of the payment holiday – you should only make use of this if necessary. If you can still afford to make loan repayments, the FCA are advising that you should continue to do so. Please see below for further information.

A payment holiday lets you take up to a three-month break from making your monthly loan repayments.

We are offering payment holidays if your income has been reduced because of the coronavirus situation and you’re having, or think you might have, payment difficulties as a result. We won’t ask you to provide any evidence at this stage – you just need to confirm that this is the case on the Declaration below.

If you’re up to date with your loan repayments -simply complete the online Declaration below. There’s no need to call us as we can process your request via our website and you will then receive a confirmation email. If however you haven’t heard from us within 5 working days, please call us on the number below.

If you’re already in arrears and are experiencing longer-term financial difficulties, for example, if you’ve been behind with your loan payments for some time, or if the coronavirus outbreak has made your existing financial difficulties worse, we need to discuss the best way forward so please call us asap (and please be aware that call waiting times are longer than usual at the moment).

Please be aware that if your next payment is due in less than seven days, the process to collect your Direct Debit will already have commenced which means that you will need to make your next contractual payment and the payment holiday would then start the following month. If this causes any particular difficulties for you, then please contact us as soon as possible to discuss your options.

To apply for a payment holiday please complete our online Declaration form. There’s no need to call us – if we accept your request for a payment holiday, we will send a confirmation by email and apply the payment holiday automatically.

If you’ve already missed a payment because of the coronavirus outbreak – please call us asap to discuss this.

No - arranging a payment holiday won’t impact on your current credit score/arrears level.

The deferred payments are added to the end of your current loan period, so your existing loan term will be extended by the period of the payment holiday i.e. up to three months. At the end of the payment holiday period, your standard monthly payments will automatically resume.

If we agree to a payment holiday, we will start it in time for your next loan repayment. However, if your payment is due in less than seven days, the payment holiday will start from the following month, which means you’ll need to make your next payment.

If you pay by Direct Debit, please don’t cancel it with your bank – we’ll stop collecting your payments when the payment holiday starts. If you pay by Standing Order however, you’ll need to contact your bank to stop the payments and you will also need to ensure that you contact your bank to start them again when the payment holiday ends.

If we agree to a payment holiday, we will start this from your next loan payment date (provided that this is at least 7 days or more away).
